Tawkify Review – Is It Actually Worth It?

When it comes to matchmaking services, Tawkify is a name that is always included in the conversation (even though most of us have no idea what it actually means). With over 10 years of experience and some impressive statistics, there are quite a few reasons to be excited about the company. That said, there are also a few things that may give you pause you’re going to want to know about.

Tawkify has one of the largest networks of singles, but some packages can get pricey

Overall, Tawkify brings some impressive stats to the table—1 million+ members, 200k+ successful connections, 10+ years in the business, and some added perks to make the whole process easier for you. That said, prices can get steep if you are interested in the VIP services.

All in all, Tawkify is a solid choice for matchmaking, which has landed it on our list of the best matchmaking services available. It’s not our number one choice (if you want to see who is, click the link in the previous sentence), but it’s still a good option.

The big highlight is over 1 million singles in their network you can match with.

While you’re realistically only looking for that one special person, it helps to have a larger matching pool for your matchmaker to look in. According to Tawkify’s website, they have over 1 million people in their network that they use to look for matches.

That’s impressive. The larger the network, the more likely they are to find quality matches for you.

Now, that said, there are a few caveats worth mentioning (leave it to us to rain on a parade).

  • We don’t know if Tawkify ever scrubs their list of people. It’s possible that some of these people signed up to be on the list 10 years ago and are now happily married and never updated Tawkify.
  • Due to tradecraft secrets, we don’t know how intricate Tawkify’s systems are to search through these matches. There is an argument that having too large of a database starts to have diminishing returns when it’s being scoured by a person.

That all said, we’d still always opt for a large database of singles at least over a certain mark. This is a check in the win column for Tawkify.

200,000 successful connections is impressive (but we don’t really know what that means).

Here’s another stat that’s impressive (and yes, we’re going to slightly rain on its parade too).

According to Tawkify, they’re responsible for 200,000 successful connections! Very cool. While this sounds impressive (and very well may be), what is a successful connection? We don’t know, and Tawkify doesn’t share what that means (we asked).

Could that just be first dates? Does that mean relationships? Does that just mean people who connected in any sense of the word? Hard to say, which for us, takes away from the quality of this statistic. It’s probably something great, but until they reveal more of what that means, we’re not going to assign a lot of credit to it.

Member vs. Client vs. VIP Client

One of the biggest things you’ll want to understand when assessing if Tawkify is a good fit are the different membership levels because they are vastly different.

Here are the three levels and what comes with each:

ServiceMemberClientVIP Client

# of cities you can search in1MultipleUnlimited
Curated datesYesYesYes
Criminal record screeningYesYesYes
Relationship tipsYesYesYes
Event invitesYesYesYes
Dates planned for youNoYesYes

Expanded search criteriaNoNoYes

The difference between regular client and VIP is considerable in price (we’ll discuss that shortly), but the added perks might be worth it if you have the disposable income. For most users, though, the regular client level membership will be the most ideal (and affordable).

The difference between both client levels and member are pretty major, though.

To be very clear, the member level (which is only $99 a year) does not come with a matchmaker or any guarantees of dates. It is merely a fee to have a profile created for you to be added to their 1 million+ matching pool in case you end up being a good fit for one of their clients.

If that sounds appealing though, you can use the link below to schedule a call to learn more about getting added:

There are some nice added perks like planned dates, event invites, and streamlined onboarding.

There are a few added perks that come with a membership that you may find attractive, or you may find annoying, depending on your personality.

First, Tawkify plans your dates for you. You just show up and pay for the date. This is great if you want to take that added burden of planning off, but it’s a drawback if you like to control that aspect of the process.

Second, Tawkify notes on their website that clients will get invites to special events. That said, no one we’ve talked to has been invited to one and we can’t find any record of these anywhere online or in forums. Do they happen? Maybe.

Third, Tawkify aims to have their onboarding calls last about an hour at most. From our experience, this isn’t to degrade the quality of your service, but it’s because they’ve learned to be efficient in getting to know you without wasting your time.

These aren’t deal breakers or things that are core features, but they are nice added perks that were a bright moment of our Tawkify review and are worth mentioning.

We’re pretty sure they conduct criminal background checks…

The last thing we want to touch on is small, but may be important to you. While most matchmaking services don’t conduct background checks, Tawkify claims on their website that they do. Awesome.

Tawkify criminal record screening

However, if you read the company’s Terms of Service, it says this:

Tawkify terms of service screenshot

“YOU UNDERSTAND AND AGREE THAT TAWKIFY IS NOT OBLIGATED TO CONDUCT CRIMINAL SCREENINGS OR IDENTITY VERIFICATION CHECKS ON ITS USERS OR TO OTHERWISE INQUIRE INTO THE BACKGROUNDS OF ITS USERS AS DEFINED BELOW, ALTHOUGH IT MAY DO SO AT ITS DISCRETION. IF YOU PURCHASE A CLIENT SUBSCRIPTION TAWKIFY WILL CONDUCT A SCREENING, OF AVAILABLE PUBLIC RECORDS, ON YOU, FOR ANY CRIMINAL HISTORY (“CRIMINAL RECORDS SCREENING”). IF YOU ARE A MEMBER OR RECRUIT AND GET SELECTED FOR A DATE, TAWKIFY WILL CONDUCT A CRIMINAL RECORDS SCREENING ON YOU. ALL OTHER CRIMINAL RECORDS SCREENINGS WILL BE PERFORMED AT TAWKIFY’S DISCRETION.”

If you notice, it says they aren’t obligated to conduct criminal screenings. However, after that, it says that they will. Most likely this is just a CYA (cover you’re a$$) type thing for legal reasons, but it was worth mentioning. It sounds like they do conduct these screenings, but don’t want to be on the hook in case they miss anything.

We’d still chalk this up as a positive. And in case you’re curious what they’re looking for. They want to ensure you:

  • have never been charged, indicted, convicted of or pleaded no contest to a felony, a sex crime, or any crime involving violence;
  • are not required to register as a sex offender with any government entity;

Let’s talk about how much Tawkify costs.

When it comes to Tawkify’s pricing, there’s a lot of ambiguity. The company does not publicize pricing, doesn’t share detailed plan options with their cost, or anything like that. Unfortunately, this is fairly standard within the industry. They didn’t even share it with us.

That said, we’ve been able to dig and get you some real examples of what people are paying for service.

The average price for a Tawkify client-level membership is around $4,000, but can range anywhere from $3,000 up to $12,000, depending on the number of dates selected. VIP client-level memberships range from around $12,000 up to around $80,000, depending on the selected options. The member-level membership (that comes with no matchmaking) is $99.

Here are a few actual package prices from real users:

  • $4,410 – 3 date package (Purchased in 2024)
  • $4,500 – 3 date package (Purchased in 2023)
  • $4,900 – 3 date package (Purchased in 2024)
  • $4,900 – 3 date package (Purchased in 2024)
  • $4,900 – 4 date package (Purchased in 2024)
  • $3,700 – 6 date package (Purchased in 2021)
  • $5,250 – 6 date package (Purchased in 2024)
  • $6,900 – 6 date package (Purchased in 2024)
  • $7,200 – 6 date package (Purchased in 2024)
  • $8,000 – 8 date package (Purchased in 2024)
  • $10,000 – 12 date package (Purchased in 2024)
  • $12,000 – 12 date package (Purchased in 2023)

A less expensive alternative to consider

If the idea of spending thousands of dollars on a matchmaker seems steep, we get it. It’s certainly not the right fit for everyone, and is highly dependent on your level of disposable income. If you’re looking for a more affordable option, we might recommend trying a matchmaking service like eharmony.

eharmony operates as a hybrid between dating app and matchmaker, where you are still sent curated matches, but they’re selected by a highly trained computer algorithm. Because an actual person isn’t doing the searching, the costs come way down and start around $30 a month. You will have to do a little extra work like reaching out and setting up dates yourself, but you’ll also get way more control over the process and picking out who you get to go out with.

If this sounds appealing, here’s a link to try eharmony for free. You’ll be able to set up your profile and search through matches in your area before you even have to consider upgrading to the very affordable paid memberships that are a fraction of what a pure matchmaking service costs.

Do we think Tawkify is legit?

At the end of the day, we think Tawkify is a well-run company with a massive membership base that makes it a worthwhile option for people looking for a matchmaking service. It’s not our top option, mainly because there are some customer complaints and the price for higher-tiered VIP memberships may not match the added features you’re getting. Overall, though, we think most clients will be happy with Tawkify and it’s at the very least worth scheduling a call to get any additional questions you have answered by the team.
