Tawkify advertises an 80% success rate, but we have questions.
The only source you ever have for a company’s success rate is the company itself. According to Tawkify, the company has an 80% success rate.
Impressive. But there are caveats and questions that need to be addressed.
First, if you notice on the Tawkify website, there’s a big asterisk next to the success rate. This signifies that there is more to this number, specifically how the company defines what success means.
If we scroll down the page we see what the asterisk says.
It says “*For Tawkify-matched couples within the first 12 matches.”
What does this mean? We asked every member of our team what they thought that meant and literally no one had any idea. It’s a bit of a convoluted, confusing, word salad that we couldn’t figure out.
Our best guess is that it means anyone who became a couple during their first 12 matches had some sort of success in their relationship. So, it would not mean that 80% of people found someone. Instead, it means that IF you found someone and IF you became a couple, you achieved something that deemed the relationship successful.
Yes, confusing. Our guess is that most of you are wondering what Tawkify’s success rate is in finding you someone special and not the rate at which relationships do well after finding a match. This figure would not be what you’re looking for in those cases.
Tawkify advertises 200,000 successful connections, and we have more questions.
On top of the advertised 80% success rate that we just broke down, Tawkify also advertises over 200,000 successful connections.
Again, impressive. But again, we have questions.
What is a successful connection? Is a successful connection merely when two people have a nice date, whether it goes anywhere or not? Or does a successful connection mean they dated or fell in love?
We’d venture to guess that it’s probably something like the first option we mentioned there. If it were 200,000 marriages or 200,000 couples, we’d imagine they would call it that and not use an ambiguous term like successful connections.
Additionally, some simple math shows us that our theory is probably on the right track. Tawkify mentions on their website that they have 1 million + relationship-ready singles. If they were to successfully connect 200,000 of those, that would be a 20% success rate, which doesn’t line up with the 80% success rate mentioned above.
We’re not trying to be hard on Tawkify
It’s entirely possible that the 1 million + refers to members in their network and the 80% success rate refers to their higher paying clients (separate groups). If that is the case, it makes a lot more sense.
However, all the ambiguity and undefined terms to support the data lead us to ask questions. It is 100% possible that these stats and success rates are the best case scenario. But that said, Tawkify is a sophisticated company and we feel like if the data was that strong, they might be more clear about what it means.
How should you interpret the Tawkify success rate data?
